Hello! Welcome to my portfolio. My name is Dewi Hajar Rahmawati Ali.  You can call me Deha. I am an English literature student from Universitas Indonesia. I would like to bring you some of literary works and my personal interpretation on that. The theme is women empowerment. My purpose in creating this portfolio is to fulfill the project for Contemporary English Literature Studies and influence the reader to embrace women empowerment.

For a very long period, the existence of women and their activities are being policed to a box that limit them in every single way. In the past, so many of them constantly received less than what is due them as human being. They received less education, job vacancy, less pay for work, even the freedom of speech. Sadly, until right now, some of area in this world, especially a developing country, still have a lot of limitation to the woman.

This problem is very important to be solved because the fact says that women is a first school to their children that would be a leader in the future. So, the quality of children depends in their education and school, as well as the first education given by their mom who is a woman.

Besides, the number of women makes up 50 percent of the world’s population. It is a big opportunity for us to change the quality of society that will help us to build a better world. In this case, sustainable society development is very important. By empowering women, we will give a chance to reach those goals.

In other hand, this big decision to empower woman is a difficult thing to reach. The reason is we need to change some policies that allows woman to take place and participation on public life. This might against some of old values and norms, especially in developing country that still have a lot of myths and patriarchal environment. However, this is not a very big problem if the society itself realize that those norms is not in accordance with the current circumstances and status quo.

Women empowerment is all about equipping women and allowing women to make all the decisions related to our life. Women empowerment is interpreted as promoting a woman’s self-love and our ability to do a lot of things based on our choices and our right as a human to influence themselves and others. Empowerment includes raising women’s status through education, career, and other aspects of life.

Female empowerment is an important thing which is essential to create powerful women. When it comes to deciding about our life, we as women are self-sufficient and have their own voice.

A girl should be two things, who and what we wants. This shows how women empowerment is a must, and women should feel empowered to do what we want to accomplish in their life related to career, education, and other things. Women empowerment is important because it is essential that women are able to do everything we want.

There are times when our family doesn’t support us in our decisions, and that is when we need to stand for ourselves. Empowering ourselves as a woman is very important and needed, which will determine us as a woman. Women are often seen as housewives and caretakers, but these days women are working and doing well in their career, and that is what empowerment is, to do better and better. Women empowerment is essential because empowering a woman is giving the women our rights. We should have equal rights in everything that we do. Female empowerment is not only crucial at our home but also wherever we go.

There’s something so special about a woman who dominates in a man’s world. It takes a certain grace, strength, intelligence, fearlessness, and the nerve to never take no for an answer

Culture does not make people. People make culture. If it is true that the full humanity of women is not our culture, then we can and must make it our culture

- Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie -

Feminism isn’t about making women strong. Women are already strong. It’s about changing the way the world perceives that strength

- G.D. Anderson -

We need women at all levels, including the top, to change the dynamic, reshape the conversation, to make sure women’s voices are heard and heeded, not overlooked and ignored
